Set amongst the hilly terrain of Fairfield county, Bethel brings together the idea of booming industry and quiet town living into one place. Full of historic charm there is always something new to discover in Bethel.
First settled around 1700, Bethel became an incorporated town in 1855. Part of the original settlement of Danbury, Bethel boasted hat-making factories as early as the late 1700s. The hat trade continued to remain a vital part of the town’s economy well into the early 1900s. Present day Bethel extends the legacy of building businesses as companies like Duracell and power management company Eaton Corporation call Bethel home.
Bethel has been the home to quite a few notable people along side the Greatest Showman, PT Barnum. Red Sox pitcher, Matt Barnes, MMA/UFC fighters Dan Cramer & Glover Teixeira; accomplished ballroom dancer and dance pro on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars Tony Dovolani; actresses Meg Ryan, Jan Miner, and Barbara Britton—even acclaimed cartoonist Henry Arthur “Art” Young. Of course, if you thought Bethel was only able to contribute notable people to the world, these films were at least partially if not completely filmed in Bethel— Rachel, Rachel (1968), The Case of the Cosmic Comic (1976), Other People’s Money (1991), Rise of the Dead (2007), The Entrepreneurs (2008) & Revolutionary Road (2008)
